About the Author

Dr Victoria Harmer is a Consultant nurse, breast care at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Visiting Senior Lecturer in nursing at King’s College London. She qualified with an award for distinction in practice and is lead nurse for both the breast screening and symptomatic services and heavily involved in service delivery and improvement. She also runs a nipple areola tattoo clinic and acts as a Key Worker to people diagnosed with breast cancer; supporting them and their family throughout the different modalities of their treatment trajectory.
Dr Harmer is widely published in nursing and medical journals and edited the book ‘Breast Cancer Nursing Care and Management’. She also acted as medical adviser for radio (The Archers), television (EastEnders, Coronation Street, Family Affairs, Fleabag) and film (Miss You Already) and has been awarded the Nursing Times Cancer Nursing award; representing excellence in nursing and patient care. She is a Trustee for Against Breast Cancer, Deputy Chair for Europa Donna UK and on the Medical Advisory Group for CoppaFeel!
Dr Harmer has an established record for teaching nurses and healthcare professionals internationally and volunteered in medical camps in India in 2023 and 2025. She has worked with Victoria’s Secret, does sessional work for Future Dreams charity and helped Marks and Spencer design swimwear for the post-mastectomy body.
Victoria is hugely involved in breast cancer awareness campaigns for local businesses, schools, prisons, and has worked with those with learning disabilities for over a decade, in order to address inequalities in health for vulnerable groups.
Dr Harmer has a degree in nursing from Kings College, an MBA from Westminster Business School, a doctorate from Kings and is also an Associateship of Kings College. Kings College awarded her their Distinguished Alumni Global Health Award in 2024.
